A commentary on the doings of Avery: the boss, Caleb: the muscle, Enzo: the peacemaker, and Sarah: the help.

Change of Plans

This pregnancy has had so many ups and downs. My amnio came back that the baby's lungs weren't developed, which at 37 weeks was only a 5% chance. So the scheduled C-section was canceled. But it turned out to be a blessing because it bought more time and with a closer look, I will now be induced Wednesday night, June 1st, at 9:00 p.m. If things go well I will be able to forgo the C-section, but they will prep me just in case. The placenta is 1 cm away from the cervix. I guess 1 cm is all they need. This makes me so so happy. Although emotionally I am completely drained. We are just praying things go as planned from here on out.

In the meantime, Jesse and the kids have gone to the Indianapolis Zoo.

Here they are petting a shark.

I have been taking them to the Muncie Museum.

And as husband and wife, Jesse and I have been making late night trips to the store preparing for the arrival of our new baby. Of course we take every chance we can to take out our new ride and with the purchase of these bungee cords, why not? Plenty of space.

Jesse, Avery, and I went to Kung Fu Panda II yesterday. Avery told me, "Mom stop crying and watch the movie". I agree. I'm done with this pregnancy and all the hormonal changes that come with it. Pretty sure my family is too.

Desperate Measures

After paying $4.30 a gallon for gas, I finally gave into the investment of an 84 mile/gallon scooter. Yesterday Jesse turned 30. It ended up being the perfect surprise for his birthday.

This is Jesse's sister Allie, who is visiting for the summer, riding it off the lot. There is just something wrong about a 9 month pregnant person riding a motorized bicycle.

Here I am 36 weeks along today.

As far as an update, I have placenta previa. So on May 23rd, one week from tomorrow, I will be having a baby cut out of my stomach. I have put in my request for general anesthesia which the doctor denied. Jesse has said that the sure fire way to be put out, is to act like I'm crazy. I may have to punch a nurse, which is unfortunate, but they'll soon know they have seriously underestimated my resolve on this issue.

On a happier note, we have found a way for the kids to walk themselves.

Easter

It is tradition at the Jenkins' house hold that on Easter morning there is a knock-down, drag-out, cage fight style Easter Egg Hunt. This event is sanctioned by the NGC and Dana White of UFC has contacted us on a number of occasions wanting to get a slice of the pie. Rest assured we cannot be bought. This year featured a new comer to the event. Our little cousin Izzy Huntzinger. She was a good sport and quite the egg hunter.

Avery's face says it all. Notice the form-- arms extended preventing the competition from not only getting past her but also inhibiting their line of site, her eyes constantly scanning her surroundings as her tiny brain calculates the most efficient route from one egg to the next. You can't teach this stuff. As you can see from the photo, costumes are not only welcome but encouraged. As for Caleb's basket... it was the "flower girl" basket used for my mom's wedding. Caleb intuitively selected the basket because of its superior structure, durability, and capacity.

This photo was obviously taken before the event began when the competitors were still "sympatico" as Ryder Flynn would say.

This was Caleb's first real taste of the event and as such he fell into a couple costly pitfalls.
#1. His conditioning and stamina was not quite up to the level it should have been. Sarah should probably shoulder most of the blame here because she frequently will carry him or let him ride in a stroller when we are out and about. It showed. #2. This one I will have to blame on me. He became distracted when one of his eggs fell out of his basket and burst open spilling its contents of shiny jelly-beans. Instead of quickly scooping up the bounty and moving onto the next egg he started eating the beans. You could see the connection being made in his head that ALL the eggs were filled with candy. A classic production killer. CURSE THOSE SHINY BEANS!!!!

Avery caught in the act. Like I alluded to previously, there are few rules at this event. This is Avery ripping an egg from Caleb's grip. You can tell from the look on his face that it was completely unexpected.

Well, just a little insight into how we Jenkins try and capture the spirit of Easter.
