A commentary on the doings of Avery: the boss, Caleb: the muscle, Enzo: the peacemaker, and Sarah: the help.

Bird Bath

Don't be jealous. This bird bath only cost me a hundred and five dollars.
I may not have won the Kindle, the visa prepaid cards, or the spa package, but I will forever have Avery's preschool class project, Avery will make sure of that. I will never be rid of this bright colored fountain of water .

What was worth the hundred bucks; Avery's look of excitement as they called her name at the raffle drawing. Everyone stated clapping. And of course my comedic husband picked up our prize, paraded around the room, and hoisted it up as if it were Lord Stanley's Cup.

We can never show our faces at the school again.
Because of the jealously, of course.

The Diva

About five minutes ago I was taking a bath. Avery walks in demanding to use the restroom. Ignoring my suggestion to use her own unoccupied bathroom, she sits down about 2 feet away from me, turns and says, "I'm going to need some privacy please".

Two nights ago, I was apologizing to Avery for arguing with her earlier that day. "That's okay mom. I love you even though you make mistakes." Never mind the fit she threw or the screaming or rude words she said to me.

She just does such a good job selling it.

No Cares

Everything is just so funny when you are two.

Such a fun, cute age.

Peek-a-Poo

So recently Avery has been doing something that I find quite disturbing. She is 4 now and quite capable of getting herself into proper pooping position. Every now and then she finds Sarah or me to ask for permission to poop but usually the only knowledge we have of her "actions" is her screaming at the top of her lungs "DAD, COME WIPE MY BUTT." That is not the disturbing part however. That part is when I walk into the bathroom to perform my parental duty. Avery has started hiding in the bathroom somewhere and waiting for me to walk in, look in the toilet, see what appears to be a giant Idaho Potato, or a king size Baby Ruth, and at that moment jump out and scream. I call it a Peek-a-Poo. Its like she is saying "HAHAHA, I made you look at my poop!" And she, like clockwork, asks "were you wondering how that got in there and where I was?" After I explain that I was indeed wondering how that got in there and where she was I wipe, flush, and wash. I'm thinking about trying this to Sarah sometime. I just haven't figured out how to get her into the bathroom. I just don't think "SARAH, COME WIPE MY BUTT" will do the trick. Who knows, maybe the allure of the task will be much like the blue light of a bug zapper. They know they shouldn't go in there but.. they... just... can't... stop... themselves.

As a side note, all of this conjures up memories of my sister Allie. In our house growing up we always knew when Allie had used the bathroom. There would be a "deposit" in the toilet but no toilet paper. Hopefully she eventually learned the value of a clean exit wound.
